National School of Tropical Botany,
Rio de Janeiro Botanical Garden
The National School of Tropical Botany is at the Empress’ Manor House, a building of the 18th Century, which nowadays belongs to Rio de Janeiro Botanical Garden and is located at the foothill of the Tijuca Forest. The building was renovated to serve as an academic building.
The National School of Tropical Botany was founded in 2001 as a part of the missions of the Rio de Janeiro Botanical Garden to be a dissemination center for the studies on the environment and botany, not only regarding the knowledge and the conservation of the national flora, but also with the environmental education and university extension programs.
